Yesterday, while researching a new project, I stumbled, if fingers on a keyboard can really stumble, upon this French painted dresser. Hum….
First, this fabulous painted French dresser from the 1880s is on sale for $4,355 – imagine, it’s reduced from $5,875. Solid wood, painted in off-white with hints of pale olive color, and it has gilt accent carvings on the front and sides. A marble top in the Louis XVI style. I love how the bottom has a storage compartment with a folding down front door.
What really stuck out to me was the swags on the front of this chest really are almost an exact copy of ones we make at Efex! Okay, okay, I know our swags are the copies but they are very very close in design, since most of our 180 styles are originally 18th century English. The detail where the swags come into the pulls is interesting and would be easy to duplicate with our molding SW 2.
And the part I love the best? Notice that the top embellishment is like one of our L1 moldings, except upside down. Well since this dresser is the antique, maybe it’s supposed to go that way?
I may have to try this with the next dresser that comes in our way, what do you think?
