The Art of Margaret Wolley

Every time we’re in Auckland one of my first stops is the home of our friend and artist Margret Wolley. As many of you who have read the story before she is how we discover Efex.

Every time I step into her home there is one more little nuance, something slightly different ready to be photographed and discussed or in the case of her paintings to have lusted after.

It’s not surprising that within 48 hours of touchdown we are having coffee with Margaret and her husband. After all, my husband has known them for over 50 years.  Yes, we’re dating ourselves but so what. Isn’t 60 the new 40?

Ok, I digress, the first wonderful treasure I want to share with all of you is this lovely vignette.

The chair, the side table, and sigh… the painting are all perfect. Yup, she painted them all.  The painting is one I love and I own two that are similar yet slightly smaller. The chair however was a treat. Margret went to her local (less than 400 feet down the street home store Le Monde and bought Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in pure white)  She had actually painted the chair years ago, but wanted to refresh the fabric. Wow, what a great change.

And finally, the little black box. Margret is a fan of Coco Channel (read big fan) and so she does a lot in black and white. This little black box with an R77 on top was done 25 years ago. And yes, that is an Efex.

I guess we can say they last well! What do you think?
